What color should you decorate your room in?

Your first choices should come from your wardrobe. What colours do your wear frequently. Which ones make you feel good. There is your starting place. Now, check out the Bed & Bath places, they will have a selection of linens, comforters, draperies, and accessories in many different colours and patterns. Take a bit of your colour with you and see what is there you like. Once you have your linens etc, you can choose your walls (and ceiling) colours. Take a pillow case or your comforter with you when you choose the paint, most people do not carry colour well in their heads and once the paint is mixed it is yours, even if you get it wrong.

Remember, unless you own the walls you are painting it is best to have the permission of the owner before you paint. Sometimes a compromise is in order. You might want a royal purple room, but if your parents say no, you may want to go with a lilac paint on the wall and dark purple linens and drapes… You can even use drapes (or fabric) to cover a wall in your desired colour without the "hassle" of repainting when you leave.
