What causes retinal tares?

Retinal tears are caused by the pulling or traction on the retina, often due to changes in the vitreous gel that fills the eye. As we age, the vitreous can shrink and detach from the retina, leading to tears. Other risk factors include high myopia, eye injuries, or inflammatory conditions. If not treated promptly, retinal tears can lead to retinal detachment and vision loss.
