What is the best way to read and understand quickly?

Well, one of the basics is to keep asking yourself questions while you are reading. If you read the name of the main character, for instance, you know that the main character is doing something... what is it? If you don't know, go back and read it again, looking for an action Word... is he thinking? Saying something? Running somewhere? Once you know that, then you can ask further questions. Where is he running, or what is she thinking about? .... questions are the best way to find the answers, and understand what you are reading. It is hard sometimes, especially for people who have a hard time reading. It takes so long to concentrate on one Word and figure it out, that it is hard to focus on the context. Asking yourself questions, and just practicing is the best way to get better. It is hard, and it seems to go slowly, but the more you practice, the better you will get, and the more you will recognize Words. Once you get enough Words that are easily recognized, then you'll be able to read and it won't be painful anymore... you'll actually be able to think more about the story than the reading part, and that will help your understanding, and enjoyment.
