Scorpions are arthropods, and arachnids. They have eight legs. They are not insects.

Scorpions are arachnids. All adult insects have three body sections, the head, the body, and the thorax, and each one is visibly separated from the others. Scorpions clearly don't have such segments, and therefor aren't insects.
