Who is Jonas in the book giver?

Jonas is the main character who is turning 12 years old soon. He lives with a mother and father and sister Lily. His parents are not his birth parents because in Jonas's community, rules are way different than in our society today. The book the Giver is a really good book with many twists and turns.
