I would say that misspelling is considered style. For instance "r u going 2 go 2 nite? Thanx for ur help b4!" Especially in the modern world of texting, Facebook, and email, many abbreviate Words. Some misspell Words out of convenience (since they shorten the Words), while others may just misspell since it is the "cool thing to do". For instance, instead of typing three letters "you", many prefer to type "u". While some may type "u" for convenience reasons, many just type "u" since it is the common thing to do. This type of lingo is becoming very popular, especially among teenagers.
