The pharynx connects to the esophagus at the lower part of the pharynx, specifically at the level of the cricopharyngeus muscle, located at the cervical vertebrae C6-C7. This connection occurs as the pharynx transitions into the esophagus, allowing for the passage of food and liquids from the throat into the esophageal tube. The region where this connection occurs is also referred to as the pharyngoesophageal junction.
