Morgan Freeman's parents are Mayme Edna Freeman and Morgan Porterfield Freeman Sr. His mother was a teacher and his father worked as a barber and a small businessman. Freeman was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but spent much of his early life in Charleston, Mississippi, primarily raised by his mother and grandmother.
