In medieval Christian demonology, demons were categorized into five divisions based on their areas of expertise: tempters, which incite humans to sin; hamperers, which obstruct good deeds; destroyers, which bring harm and chaos; deceivers, which spread falsehoods; and tormentors, which inflict suffering.
