What ever happened to the second Lionel on the jeffersons?

The character of Lionel Jefferson on "The Jeffersons" was originally played by Mike Evans, but he left the show during its run. He was replaced by actor Damon Evans, who is not related to Mike Evans. The change occurred after the fifth season, and while the character remained a significant part of the show, many fans noted the difference in portrayal. Mike Evans later returned to the series for a brief period before it ended.
