Sprays that come in cans use compressed gases to spray a fine mist. The mist is called an aerosol (tiny droplets suspended in the air). The sprays are likewise called aerosols or aerosol cans.

Perfume bottles use a bulb to force air through the liquid, similarly picking up fine droplets of the liquid. This type of sprayer is called an atomizer.
