Why is it important to wear a safety belt (or seatbelt) even if your vehicle has an airbag?

Wearing a seatbelt is crucial even with airbags because seatbelts are designed to secure occupants in place during a crash, preventing them from being thrown against the airbag or other parts of the vehicle. Airbags alone cannot prevent ejection from the vehicle or mitigate the forces experienced in a collision.
