What is destination life cycle?

The destination life cycle is a concept that describes the stages a tourist destination goes through from its inception to decline. It typically includes five phases: exploration, involvement, development, consolidation, and decline or rejuvenation. In the exploration phase, a destination is relatively unknown, while in the development phase, infrastructure and marketing efforts increase tourist numbers. Over time, the destination may face challenges such as over-tourism or loss of appeal, leading to either decline or efforts to rejuvenate the area.
