Why does hillium flote?

Helium floats because it is lighter than the surrounding air. The density of helium is lower than that of the nitrogen and oxygen that make up most of the atmosphere, which allows helium-filled balloons to rise. This buoyancy effect occurs due to the principles of displacement and Archimedes' principle, where an object will float if it displaces a weight of fluid greater than its own weight.
