How do you get your children back from Sims 3?

During gameplay, press "CTRL+SHIFT+C" and type in the cheat code. "Testingcheatsenabled true" Now press "M" to get a map view of the town. Put the mouse on every house in the town. This display shows how many households are in the house. Once you've found your children, visit that household and hold down left shift and click on your children. Choose the option "Add sim to active family"
