Renault clio 1.2 16vdynamique sometimes wont start for ages?

If it happens when the engine is hot or cold then the chances are you have the same problem as my daughter, cured by changing the air filter and spark plugs, she only drives the car around town so it takes years to reach the service intervals, she will now get it serviced every year.
