Did the lotus flower come from India?

If the lotus flower you mean is the one that is like a water lily then yes and no. There are two members of the genus. Nelumbo lutea the American Lotus or Water Chinkapin which is native to the Southern United States and N.nucifera the East Indian Lotus which is native to Asia.
