A connotation is the perception by the reader or listener (emotional or otherwise) that can be evoked by the use of specific Words. A neutral connotation is one that has neither positive nor negative inferences.

Example : both "woman" and "chick" have the denotation "adult female" in North American society, but "chick" has somewhat negative connotations, while "woman" is neutral.

like "smell" not Auroma or stank or stench. because the other ones are not a neutral connotiation.
