How do river otters raise their young?

River otters typically give birth to their young in a secure den, often located near water sources. The mother, known as a sow, cares for the pups by nursing them and keeping them warm and safe. After about two months, the pups begin to explore outside the den and learn essential survival skills from their mother, such as hunting and swimming. The family usually stays together for several months before the young otters become independent.
