How long have carp been around?

Carp are around since the fourth century AD, It was the Romans who brought them to Western Europe were those wild carp quickly spawned and spread throughout the rivers and streams and lakes of Europe.But it was not till the 1400s that they came to british waters.Every angler knows ,carp are among the most popular coarse fish of all.Once introduced into a new venue ,carp tend quickly to establish themselves as the dominant species and can easily put on 3lb (1.4kg) in each year.
