You can't determine a set amount of time, but here are a couple things you can do to begin getting lighter skin:
1. Make your own DIY face masks using cucumbers and yogurt. Make sure to chop up the cucumber very finely, and use all natural yogurt.
2. Apply a low SPF sunscreen to your face before applying makeup. You can usually find moisturizers that already contain sunscreen in them that are at least SPF 15.
