How much respect a doctor gets?

A doctor gets NO respect at all, it used to be that if a Doctor needed a hair cut he could walk into a barbershop with his lab coat on and would get a free hair cut. People USED TO really respect their doctors since they treated them, but with new inventions and procedures there isn't as much of a need to see doctors anymore, therefor their respect level decreased. It's sad really because they deserve all the respect in the world for what they do.
