I have several Rose of Sharon trees, and they range in color from a very pale pink to an almost red color.
The strange part about this is that most of them came from the same original tree as rooting. So in reality they are clones.
But here comes the strange part, they are all different colors, and I can only attribute that to where they are planted. This means it is either soil driven or sunlight driven.
The very pale pink are in a shaded area and the almost red ones are in full sunlight, but as I said, I'm not sure if the soil doesn't play a part in coloring.
