What is the Story line of the sound of music and who are the protagonist?

The Sound of Music is a classic musical film about a postulant Maria who leaves the Abbey to become a governess for the von Trapp family. After a rocky start she is able to win the hearts of the seven children and their father Captain von Trapp. Despite their differences love begins to blossom between Maria and the Captain. The two eventually get married but their happiness is short-lived as Austria is annexed by Nazi Germany. To escape the Nazi regime the von Trapps must flee the country and the family joins together to perform a daring escape.
