Why did the founder write the Declaration of Independence?

The founder(s) wrote the Declaration of Independence because people in the New World were still being controlled by the British, and wanted their own freedoms. So the Continental Congress formed a comitee to tell people why the colonists wanted to be free. Thomas Jefferson was the head of this comitee who was also an exellent writer. So he and a few other people wrote out the Declataion of Independence and America finally got their freedome and officially became their own INDEPENDENT nation!
