The cost of living and the quality of life makes New Zealand the most popular place for expats to live, according to research from Alliance & Leicester International (ALIL). Having the lowest average property price at £105,750, low fuel, food and drink costs, and one of the lowest higher-rate tax bands at 39 per cent (compared with 50 per cent in Australia and 48 per cent in France) has helped to push it to the top of the expat table according to ALIL's Cost of Living Scorecard. The mild weather, low crime rate and favourable working hours makes it score highly in the ALIL Quality of Life Scorecard too. Source: Telegraph.co.uk on 26 Nov 2008
