Why does Jonas think lack of color is Unfair?

Jonas feels that it is unfair because he wants the ability to have the ability to choose between things that are different. The Giver tells him that this is not wise or safe. Jonas makes a flower bed of different colors and tries to make Asher see the colors but Asher can't.
