How do birds escape from enemies?

Squirrels escape from enemies with their speed. A squirrel with sit on a tree trunk sometimes and vibrate it's tail. When they do this, they feel the vibrations of all the objects around them. Such as cats, dogs or any other animal that may have an appetite to eat them.
