Many people who have credentials and experience in health services but who are not physicians decide to train in medicine; nurses and chiropractors are among them. They meet the same requirements as all others: an undergraduate degree; four years of medical school; an OBGYN residency that is usually four years. Additional time may be needed, because graduates are expected to become Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Those who already have an undergraduate degree and who present that degree in their packet of credentials for admission to med school will not have to repeat that part of the training.
