What is difference between epic and romance?

Epic is a long narrative poem which glorify the deeds of national hero who fight with somebody to preserve national interest and fight for the protection and defence of a nation,while,a Romance is a poem,story or novel in which a poet tells about the chivalry or adventure of hero who fight for his love or for his personal interest.
