Why does Ruth choose Cody over Ezra in the dinner at the homesick restaurant?

I think Cody just worked so hard to win her feelings, she eventually fell for him. Even if she loved Ezra to start with and was resistant to Cody at first, I think in the end, she just saw more in him. He had a good job and made more money, and he was the type of guy who would never go for her. She must have felt so flattered to think that someone like him supposedly cared for someone like her. That's my opinion, at least.
