How can I troubleshoot a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder fuel pump?

Turn key to on position,just before start position, and you should here the pump pressure up for 2-3 seconds and then shut off .You must be listening under back of vehicle near fuel tank, so you'll need some one to turn on ignition while you listen .Try it several times ,with a short break in between trys , but it should make abuzzing sound every time.
