The Sunlight Feeds and averagely abundant species of plant that is fed on by insects, that are fed on by amphibians, birds, reptiles, fish, and mammels (like you and me). Dead material is decomposed by fungi, mold, etc. into the dirt from which plants grow, and all living things are host to a massive network of microscopic organisms.

It's been a while seen I've learned about food webs, but one could be as the following:

Snakes- eat rats, frogs.

Rats- eat plants, and rat food.

Frogs- eat insects.

Now how you would build the food web:

If you are doing it on a piece of paper you would write snakes at the top, then two diagonal lines underneath it (pointing different directions). Under one line you would write rats, the other frogs. Now under rats you would draw two more lines (one for

rat food and one for plants). Under frogs you would draw a line and put insects.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of fiodwebs in the world, depending on what your starting animal is. Hope I helped(:
An example for a food web would be when a rabbit eaten by a cobra grass it is eaten by a eagle.
An example of a food web is as follows. If only I had arrows. Follow this link. Put it in the web bar on a different tab or window. Whatever.

Grass <---- Rat <------ Snake< ------ Eagle<----- Decomposers..

In a food chain, energy is passed from one link to another. When a herbivore eats, only a fraction of the energy (that it gets from the plant food) becomes new body mass; the rest of the energy is lost as waste or used up by the herbivore to carry out its life processes (e.g., movement, digestion, reproduction). Therefore, when the herbivore is eaten by a carnivore, it passes only a small amount of total energy (that it has received) to the carnivore. Of the energy transferred from the herbivore to the carnivore, some energy will be "wasted" or "used up" by the carnivore. The carnivore then has to eat many herbivores to get enough energy to grow.
