How do you open the hood of Volvo xc90?

The Volvo HOOD RELEASE LATCH is mounted in the drivers footwell area on the lefthand wall. It looks almost like it would remove the panel- it's a latch that is built right into the panel and is about 2-3" wide on the left if you were sitting as the driver you would reach down and grab the latch ont he left hand all by your feet.

The black handle sits vertically to the door foot well.

A gentle pull outwards (towards the driver) and the hood releases up- but this is only the first part. Next you go out to the hood and stand in front of the hood.

When the hood has raised you have to slide your fingers under the front grill and pull the small tab.

Here's the trick. THE GRILL is attached to the hood. .so you have to look UNDER THE GRILL- -on the drivers side under the gril and there you will find the latch to release the hood all the way.. that's the tricky part as it's easy to keep putting your fingers through the grill looking for the tab when it is in fact betweent he grill and bottom bumper (under the grill by the bumper)

Then lift the hood upwards.
