Cnidocytes are the specific cells present in all cnidarians.Name of phylum Cnidaria is derived from the Word cnidocyts which are stinging cells.These cells are most important cells for these animals because they are related with offence , defence and feeding.A cnidocyte consists of a capsule with a coiled filament barbs , a cnidocil , and a lid. It is discharged when cnidocil is touched.These cells are of 30 different types also used for attachment etc.
