Is veetle tv safe to download?

I have a problem with veetle tv, firstly when I downloaded the software it crash my machine and took an hour before it would work again! More importantly why?I have watch Veetle for a year and never downloaded the software. Having a Techie background I can tell you their is no need for any software to view the programming, So its probably some tracking rubbish or advertising nonsence.
