Health care businesses often have difficulty regulating the building temperature, especially if located on the ground floor and often built on concrete slabs. To force warm air toward colder floors, businesses often turn the heat higher which makes the air from waist-high to ceiling hotter and harder to breathe. In buildings with high ceilings, heat rises so that it remains colder near the floor, and so again, businesses turn the temperature up to try to force more warm air toward the floors.

Generally, exam rooms need to be a comfortable 72-degrees to 75-degrees. However, with all of the building and heating problems clinics and offices encounter, it is not unusual for air temperatures to reach above 80-degrees.
