Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire and craftsmanship, was thrown from Mount Olympus by his mother, Hera. According to mythology, Hera cast him out due to his perceived weakness and deformity at birth. He fell for an entire day before landing on the island of Lemnos, where he was cared for by the Sintians, a tribe of people who lived there. This event shaped Hephaestus's character and his eventual role as the blacksmith of the gods.
