What does this quote mean-Do not go where the path may lead go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.?

This quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson is telling us to be leaders,

not followers. We need to listen to ourselves and do what we think

is right, not what everyone else thinks is right. It is our job to

make a change and set a good example for others.

Leave a trail for those who don't know where to go. Show others

that they can make a difference by going left when everyone else
