What is the difference between sexual orientation and sexual preference?

"Sexual preference" is an outdated term that has since been replaced by the more neutral "sexual orientation."

Preference implies choice, and since we now know that sexual orientation is part of a person's nature, it's inappropriate to label it as a preference.
