Giotto di Bondone was an Italin painter and architect during the beginning of the Italian Renaissance. He produced several frescoes at various churches, such as the Scrovegni Chapel and the Crusifix at Santa Maria Novella. In Rome, he created a mosaic St. Peter's Basilica. Michelangelo is known to have studied his work in the Peruzzi Chapel.
