Why would a 2003 Chevy Cavalier have a clicking noise coming from behind the glove compartment when the car is on?

it is the recirculation door for the heating/ a/c system trying to close. take off the top dash panel, loosen the pass side airbag (do not unplug) set it aside and you can see the door. I put a metal clip on the metal on the bottom of the opening that kept the door from fully closing and it stopped it from closing all the way and it worked
