How do you open the lift gate from inside on a 2004 Durango The handle acts as if it is locked when it is not I found the access hole but can't see exactly what to trip.?

Pull the top interior panel. Just pull it out. Take out the two screws on the lower panel. You will not be able to pull the panel completly off because of four screws you can not get to unless the gate is opened. Pull the panel back enough so that you can see the accuator at the bottom. Unplug both electrical connections. You will see a white plastic tab that Push that tab in towards the fron of the vehicle. You will feel a click. You can then open the door from the outside. Had the same problem. Ended up being the accuator. Remove three screws with a star bbit and replace. 30 minute job. $155. 00 for the assembly. $385.00- $500,00 at the stealership.
