Where did subway come up with their name?

Subway got its name from the concept of a "submarine sandwich," which is often shortened to "sub." The founders, Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck, initially named their first sandwich shop "Pete's Super Submarines" in 1965. The name was later changed to "Subway" in 1968 for simplicity and to better reflect the brand's identity. The name also conveys the idea of quick and convenient dining, akin to subway transportation.
