Sir Richard Arkwright owned several factories throughout his career, most notably the large cotton mills he developed in the late 18th century. At the peak of his enterprise, he owned around 10 mills, including the famous Cromford Mill in Derbyshire, which is considered the first modern water-powered cotton spinning mill. His innovations and factory system played a significant role in the Industrial Revolution.
