What is al Andulus?

Al-Andalus refers to the historical territory of the Iberian Peninsula that was under Muslim rule from the early 8th century until the late 15th century. This region was notable for its rich cultural, scientific, and architectural achievements, blending Islamic, Christian, and Jewish influences. The term is often associated with the period of relative tolerance and coexistence among different religious communities, particularly during the height of the Caliphate of Córdoba. Al-Andalus ultimately fell to the Christian Reconquista, culminating in 1492 with the conquest of Granada.
