Why did Saint Clare of Assisi become a saint?

Clare came from a rich and noble family. She gave up all that comfort and money to devote her life to serving God and helping the poor. She died of natural causes on August 11, 1253, at the age of 61 of natural causes and was canonzed on September 26, 1255, by Pope Alexander IV.
