What does bonsai means in terms of art?

Bonsai is the art of growing a miniature tree, just a few inches high, by carefully and repeatedly removing the seedling tree from the soil, trimming its roots, and returning it to the pot. You have to know how to do it, of course. If you google the Word, wikipedia will give you an article about it.
