Why does Tractor Supply Company place so much emphasis on training employee?

Three training videos and a few sections of a book that took all of four hours and they consider you 'trained', nevermind you don't actually know how to do anything because the supplements and training guides aren't available and you are told you don't need them. You are 'taught' by doing. Hope you've already had some retail experience and that the person 'training' you isn't lazy and you don't pick up someone else's bad habits. I thought most corporations had procedures.

There is the idea of training and then there is what actually happens. You are supposed to become knowledgeable but no one seems to know how it happens.
