What does the number stand for on the Ford F series trucks?

F100 = 1/2 Ton

F150 = heavy duty 1/2 ton

F250 = 3/4 ton

F 350 = 1 ton

Thes were load ratings on the trucks, Trust me, we hauled much more weight on our trucks and they worked well here on the farm.




Also, the F-100 was not four wheel drive.
While the 100 existed 10 was added to denote four wheel drive
i.e.
F-250 = RWD, F260 = 4WD
Both 3/4 ton


(except for 100, which became 150)
This changed when they phased out 100's, which morphed (in-part) into rangers
